The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced that World No. 4 Mexico, No. 14 Czechia, and No. 31 South Africa will complete the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS list of participants. The eighth edition of the tournament is scheduled from July 25 to August 3 in Tainan (TPE).
The WBSC granted a Wild Card to Mexico and Czechia while WBSC Africa assigned the Africa continental spot to South Africa.
The previous qualification tournaments saw World No. 1 Japan, No. 2 Chinese Taipei and No. 6 Korea qualify through the U-12 Asian Baseball Championship while No. 5 USA, No. 9 Cuba, No. 10 Panama and No. 12 Dominican Republic advanced from the WBSC Americas Qualifier.
No. 17 Germany won the European Championship. The runners up the Netherlands chose not to take their position in the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup 2025, opening a spot for third-placed Czechia.
No. 12 Australia defeated Guam in the WBSC Oceania Qualifier to claim the Oceania ticket.
The WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup, played every two years, is one of four age-group WBSC Baseball World Cups along with U-15, U-18 and U-23 tournaments. Since the event’s inauguration in 2011, USA has won the tournament five times, while the hosts Chinese Taipei have won it twice.
Chinese Taipei, Japan, Korea and Mexico are the four teams to have participated in all previous seven editions with Chinese Taipei the only side to have medalled in every edition.
On 20 July, 2019, WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari officially opened the Tainan Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadium and Training Centers – a first-of-its-kind elite baseball facility designed specifically for players aged 12 and under – which is the host venue of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup from 2019 to 2027.
