Historic I WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup set to open in Ankara

Welcome to this daily summary of the I WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup, giving you the latest news and key updates on newest WBSC official world championship.

Ankara, Türkiye – The next generation of Baseball5 stars will showcase their best skills and make history tomorrow, Tuesday 10 October, on Opening Day of the I WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup. A total of 12 teams will take the field in Ankara, Türkiye, aiming to become the discipline’s first ever World Champions.

During the pre-tournament press conference, WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari said “I am very enthusiastic that WBSC World Cup has been hosted by a country like Türkiye, which has shown great interest in Baseball5. We started Baseball5 in 2017 and now that the sport is a reality and the future of Baseball5 is very bright and is proven by being featured as one of the disciplines to be featured at the Youth Dakar Olympic Game in 2026.”

All games of the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup will be broadcast live on GameTime, the WBSC’s online streaming service, as well as the WBSC’s official YouTube channel (geo-blocking restrictions may apply).

Cuba, the first ever WBSC Baseball5 World Cup champions and China, who finished second at the WBSC Asia Youth Baseball5 qualifier, have the honour of opening the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup on 10 October in the city of history and civilisation, Ankara, Türkiye.

The 30-game Opening Round will conclude on 12 October, with the top three finishers from each group advancing to the Super Round, while the other six teams will participate in the Placement Round.

The top two teams from the Super Round on 13 and 14 October will compete for the title of Youth Baseball5 World Champion on 15 October at midday, preceded by the Bronze Medal Game at 10:00.
