Argentina has kept the No. 1 position in the latest edition of the WBSC Men’s Softball World Rankings after finishing third at the inaugural U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup in Parana, Argentina on Sunday.
A win (1,150 points) and a fourth place finish (905 points) in the 2019 and 2022 editions of the WBSC Men’s Softball World Championships plus the 502 points from the WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup kept Argentina on top with 4,224 points over WBSC U-23 Men’s Softball World Cup 2023 champions Australia, who moved up to second place on 3,551 points. The WBSC Men’s Softball World Championsgained two positions after defeating Japan in the U-23 World Cup final.
Australia’s improvement caused Canada (3,358) to fall to fourth place. Japan (3,451) stayed third while the United States, who didn’t participate in Parana, remain in fifth place on 2,655 points.
Singapore, who finished ninth in Parana, also went up two positions to No. 12 in the world on 994 points while Israel, who finished 10th, had the most relevant improvement in the Top 20, climbing four places to No. 17 on 339 points.
The Men’s Softball World Rankings includes 38 programmes in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
