Six World Cup qualifiers highlight Softball Asia 2023 events calendar

The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup qualifier, to be staged from 2-8 April in Incheon, South Korea, will be the first of six continental qualifers this year in Asia.

The Women’s Softball Asia Cup, to be staged from 2-8 April in Incheon, South Korea, will leadoff Softball Asia’s continental calendar for 2023-2024. The WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup qualifier will be the first of six continental softball qualifers this year in Asia. The postponed Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 softball competition is going to be played from 26 September to 2 October.

The tournament in Incheon will award three tickets for the Women’s Softball World Cup, slated for July across the European continent. The winner of the tournament will be allocated in Group C in Italy; second place will play in Group B in Spain, while the third and last qualified team will participate in Group A in Ireland.

Pattaya, Thailand, will host the Co-Ed Slow Pitch Softball Asia Cup with three tickets available for the World Cup 2023. The dates and host of this World Cup will be announced at a later stage.

The month of June will see three Softball World Cup Qualifiers in Asia. Puli, Taiwan, will host the U-15 Women’s Asia Cup (13-17 June); while Kochi, Japan will receive the U-18 and Senior Men’s Softball Asia Cups (23-24 June the first, 25-28 June the second). Bouth youth tournaments have two slots available up for grabs, while the Senior Men’s Softball qualifier will award three tickets for the Group Stage in 2024.

The last Softball World Cup qualifier will be hosted in Pingtan, China, where the best U-18 Women’s National Softball Teams of the continent will battle for three spots in the World Cup 2024. The qualifier is slated for 29 August to 2 September.

Softball Asia is planning to host two Umpires Certification Seminar, the first in Incheon, South Korea, before the Women’s qualifier; and the second in Puli, China, before the U-15 qualifier.

In February Malaysia hosted the Youth Baseball5 World Cup qualifier.
