The last qualifier tournament for the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup is set to begin on Sunday 2 April in Incheon, Korea, when the host team and Thailand meet on Game 1 of the Women’s Softball Asia Cup. The nine participating teams will be vying for three berths to the World Cup, to be played in July in Ireland, Spain and Italy.
The tournament’s 45 games will be available to watch for free on GameTime (gametime.sport), the WBSC-owned OTT platform.
Nine participating teams will compete for the Asian title: World No. 2 Japan; No. 3 Chinese Taipei; No. 13 China; No. 30 Philippines; No. 35 Korea; No. 38 Hong Kong China; No. 42 Singapore; No. 46 Thailand and No. 53 India.
The top three teams in the final standings will advance to the XVII WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup next July.
The winner of the Asian tournament will land in Group C, to be staged in Castions di Strada and Buttrio, Italy, from 22-26 July. The tournament’s runner-up will play in Group B in Valencia, Spain, from 18-22 July; while third-place finisher will compete in Group A in Fingal and Dublin, Ireland, from 11-15 July.
